Tree Removals

Notification is made to the Department of Public Works either by calling 201-261-8610 or emailing. 

The request is then entered into the work order system

Public Works tree department will perform an inspection and notify the resident either in person or by leaving a door hanger with their findings along with the next steps to be taken. Generally, inspections are performed bi-monthly.

Trees are removed / pruned using a worst to first criteria. No timeframe can be given due to the number of variables including weather, employee time off, equipment breakdown and the sheer volume of work needed to perform.

Generally, NO non-emergency tree work is performed during leaf season (November – December)

Emergency tree removals and pruning’s will take precedence over all other work. Emergencies will be declared by Public Works staff, OPD or a licensed tree expert only.
