The employees of Oradell's Department of Public Works, also called DPW, are responsible for the maintenance of roads, sewers, parks, playgrounds, shade trees, recycling, and all Borough-owned vehicles and equipment.
The road crew repairs and sweeps the Borough's more than 50 miles of streets and roadways, in addition to maintaining street and traffic signs, public parking lots, the storm drain system, sanitary sewer lines, manholes, and two pumping stations.
Garbage collection, recycling, yard waste collection, leaf disposal, and snow removal are other major functions of the Department of Public Works.
Please note: Any resident experiencing a sewer backup should call the Department of Public Works to determine if the problem is in the Borough sewer line before calling an outside contractor. The DPW is only responsible for cleaning and maintaining Borough-owned sewer mains—not individual service laterals.
