Payment (cash or checks only) for any of the below should be made payable to "The Borough of Oradell" and either mailed or dropped off to the Oradell Health Dept. 
 

PETS LICENSE
All Cats & Dogs within the borough need to be licensed by the Oradell Health Dept. 

MARRIAGE LICENSE
** By Appointment Only **
In the state of New Jersey there is a mandatory three (3) day or 72 hour waiting period from the time that you apply for a license until you can pick up the license for use. DO NOT sign the marriage application prior to going to the Municipal Registrar. You must sign the application while under oath in the presence of the issuing authority. See Marriage Instructions below for any questions. Fee is $28.00 - checks payable to THE BOROUGH OF ORADELL

VITAL STATISTICS
The Borough of Oradell issues certified copies of the records of Marriage, Birth and Death which have occurred here within the borough. 
Certified Copies have the raised seal of the Borough of Oradell and are issued on New Jersey safety paper.

This office does not provide the Apostille Seal. 
An Apostille Seal is an additional seal required on certified records that will be presented to a foreign government that is a member of the Hague Treaty. The seal is also required on documents for international adoptions or for establishing dual citizenship. A completed application, valid proof of identity, payment and proof that establishes you as either:
Fees: certified copy- first copy is $10.00. Each additional copy is $5.00. Correction to record is $10.00
The subject of the record

  1. The subjects parent, legal guardian or legal representative
  2. The subjects spouse/ civil union partner, domestic partner, child, grandchild or sibling, if of the legal age 
  3. A state or federal agency for official purposes
  4. Pursuant to a court order
  5. A bank, title or insurance company requesting a copy of a death certificate for official business

WHO ARE QUALIFIED APPLICANTS FOR VITAL STATISTICS?
Births:
To qualify for a certified copy of a birth record the applicant must be the subject of the record, the record subject's parent, current spouse of the subject, child of the subject, grandchild of the subject, brother or sister of the subject, legal guardian of the subject or authorized legal representative of the subject. 

Civil Union & Marriages: To qualify for a certified copy of a civil union or marriage record the applicant must be one of the persons listed on the record, the subjects parents, children of the subject, grandchildren of the subject, brother or sister, legal guardian of the subject or authorized legal representative of the subject. 

Deaths: To qualify for a certified copy of a death record the applicant must be the surviving spouse of the subject, subjects parents, child of the subject, grandchild of the subject, brother or sister of the subject, legal guardian of the legal subject or authorized legal representative of the subject. 

IDENTIFICATION: 
Vital record applications must be completed in full and submitted with acceptable identification. A government issued photo ID is preferred. Identification must include the address of the applicant. Two forms of identification will be accepted in lieu of government issued photo identification with address. Both forms must show applicants address, which must be the same as the return address for mail requests. Examples of acceptable non-photo identification are non-phot drivers license, motor vehicle registration card, motor vehicle insurance card, voter registration card, utility bills, county identification card. Please note that in instances where the applicant's relationship to the subject is not demonstrated by information on the record being requested, additional documentation of that relationship, such as a certified copy of a certificate of marriage, is required and should be submitted with the application. All documents used for identification must be current and not expired.

New Jersey Office of Vital Statistics and Registry offers the convenience of ordering a copy of a vital record online.

- Due to high volume online requests, our processing time is within 8-12 weeks.
- Pay by credit card or debit card
- Additional processing fee of $5, online authentication fee of $5 (non-refundable) and $12 shipping fee via UPS carrier.  PLEASE NOTE: the UPS fee does not expedite the processing of the order, but it will shorten the length of time it       takes to reach you once the order has been processed. Due to high volume online requests, our processing time is within 8-12 weeks. 
- Online orders will be shipped via selected method. Online orders are not available for pick up at our walk in center.
