Oradell Public Television

(OPTV)

Overview

Launched in 2006, Oradell Public Television (also known as OPTV) manages the Borough's audio-visual needs, maintains its video archives, and oversees Oradell's very own public access cable television station, accessible on Cablevision (Channel 77) or Verizon (Channel 2128).

OPTV (Oradell Public TV) is a Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) facility whose programming is carried on Cablevision Channel 77 and Verizon Channel 2128.  We bring you live broadcasts and replays of municipal meetings, special events. The community bulletin board keeps residents current on what’s going on in Oradell and beyond.  OPTV also provides a wide spectrum of original programming from the northeast region and beyond, as well as classic movies.

OPTV brings everything you need to know about Oradell into your home. Check the station's Community Bulletin Board for upcoming programs and events. Tune into Mayor & Council meetings and work sessions, Planning Board meetings, Zoning Board meetings, budget meetings, and municipal reorganization day. Meetings are typically broadcast live, with replays throughout the month. OPTV also broadcasts news shows, borough special events, and other diverse programming.

OPTV is a community access right in our Borough, and that requires equipment, upkeep and staff.  So what makes it work?  Volunteers do!  OPTV members and other volunteers from many walks of life, who live in Oradell and surrounding municipalities, contribute to bring you the best that community access has to offer. And YOU can help!  Volunteering at OPTV requires no special talents, so if you don’t have a broadcast background that’s not a problem at all.  Our friendly committee members will show you everything you need to know.  It’s rewarding and fun… won’t you volunteer to help OPTV?  OPTV is always looking for new volunteers to work in the Control Room for live broadcasts of municipal meetings.  It also needs volunteers to work as production crew for original programming. Professional experience in television production is not necessary; training will be provided.

Crew meetings take place on the fourth Sunday of the month at 12:30 p.m. in the Borough Hall Caucus Room. Room is subject to change. Residents and non-residents interested in volunteering are encouraged to drop in. Committee Members are all annual appointments.
